Cargille™ Refractive Index Liquids

Temperature considerations and impact of temperature on refractive index

There is a complicated relationship between temperature, viscosity and refractive index (RI) can vary depending on the fluid under question. In general, it is our understanding that the temperature coefficient is fairly linear for a reasonable temperature on either side.

With regards to the temperature coefficient variation, it is somewhat linear in the range of 15 - 35°C. The temperatrue coefficient is approximately -0.0003 to -0.0005 depending on the liquid (Series AAA through B).
