SPI offers the electron microscopist and ultramicrotomists the ultimate in Life Science Diamond Knives. On a "blind" test, it is just not possible to tell even the slightest difference between the SPI Supplies Life Science Diamond Knife and those carrying a "name brand" and costing far more.

When an SPI Supplies life science diamond knife is ordered, unless otherwise specified, will be shipped with boat Style "S". Unless otherwise specified, it will also be shipped with the "default" angle of 45°. If you want some other angle, go back to Selection of the Right Diamond.

Cryomicrotomy wet style
Diamond Style CW 45° standard:
For use with frozen specimens sectioned wet with liquids like ethylene glycol
BE SURE TO SELECT RECOMMENDED BOAT STYLE "W".

Cryomicrotomy dry
Diamond Style CD 45° standard:
For use with frozen specimens sectioned dry
BE SURE TO SELECT BOAT STYLE "D".

Thick/Thin sectioning
Diamond Style TS 55° standard:
For thick sections or alternating thick/thin sections
Be sure to select boat Style "TS"

Each SPI Supplies Life Science Diamond knife is rigorously inspected before final package sealing and shipping. This testing involves a TEM inspection of sections cut with the new knife because SPI wants to make sure that we ourselves are conducting a rigorous quality assurance program on our own end and are not going to be relying on our customers to serve as our quality control laboratory!

Gem quality diamonds only of the highest purity are selected to be crafted into SPI Supplies Knives. The diamonds are cleaved, laser aligned to the crystal plane and welded to the metal shank assuring permanent stability and chatter free performance. You always get top performance and that means smooth, defect free. All SPI Supplies Knives are tested in our own full service laboratory. The manufacturing process and final quality of your SPI Supplies Diamond Knives are monitored all the way down to the molecular level with an atomic force microscope (AFM) at magnifications up to 10,000,000X. We are unaware of any other manufacturer of diamond knives that goes to such extremes to make sure that we never have any less than the "perfect" knife.

Send us your "old" knives for resharpening! SPI can return you knives in need of resharpening just like they were the day they were new! And you can save a bundle of money over the price of new knives as well. If that should be your decision, don't return the knives until you apply for a Return Authorization number and you hear back from us with the special return number.
