These precision manufactured jigs, or in some parts of the world, "tools", when used, greatly enhance the chances that the break will occur exactly where you want it to occur, time and time again, over and over and over. And that is the secret of the value of the SPI Microtome Knife Glass Scoring Jigs when making glass knives for ultramicrotomy. Remember that if you already have a knife maker for thick sections, such as a Ralph knifemaker, you don't really need these cutting jigs. These are offered primarily to those who don't have a Ralph knife maker.

3.125" (7.94 cm) along the "T".

Recommended Glass:
These jigs were designed for use with the special glass that is manufactured and packed for applications in microtomy, such as the SPI Microtome Knife Glass. Good results could be expected when using the special microtome knife glass supplied by other suppliers.
