The SPI Supplies Brand of disposable diamond scalpel blades are meant for the one time user of a diamond scalpel and for which the need to resharpen is just not relevant. The disposable diamond blades are also attractive to those working in institutions where the return to a vendor for sharpening some item can be very expensive and problematic. We also know that it is very time consuming and expensive to export from certain countries back to the USA such items for resharpening and those costs at times exceed the savings relative to the purchase of a brand new knife.

These are the kinds of situations for which the disposable diamond knives were originally intended.

We offer as standard 60° edge, it is slightly more fragile but the higher angle results in a longer cutting edge and most of our customers prefer 60° to 45°. The disposable diamond scalpel blade products are available with either a plastic handle or for a slightly higher price, an aluminum handle. Neither one is resharpenable and both are intended to be disposable when the blade loses its sharpness. The diamond knife itself is 4 mm long but only 3 mm are exposed. The thickness of the blades are 0.17 mm.
