SPI-Module Sputter/Carbon Coater Proposal
Everything you would ever want to know about the easiest-to-use
coaters for SEM/EDS labs in the world!
A few words from our president
Thank you for clicking onto this section, thereby showing an interest for
detailed information about the world renown SPI-MODULE
Sputter/Carbon Coating System, the first completely "modular" system for
SEM/EDS sample preparation.
The basic system consists of three modular units that ultimately fit
together to form a center for sputtering precious metals or evaporating
carbon fiber or rod onto samples destined for examination by SEM and/or
EDS. The base, called the SPI-Module Vacuum Control Base, accepts the
addition of either the SPI-Module Sputter Coater module or the SPI-Module
Carbon Coater or both! These two modules each measure 10" (12.4 cm) to
12" (30.5 cm) x 4" (10.2 cm) high to and
fit on top (together or alone) of the SPI-Module Vacuum Control base
unit, itself having a small "foot print" of 18.75" (47.6 cm) wide x
12.375" (31.4 cm) deep x 4" (10.2 cm) high, not counting the height taken
up by the posts and bell jar chamber.
The SPI-Module Carbon Coating System is supplied "standard" with a carbon
filament head; however, a carbon rod head may be purchased separately as
an optional accessory item.
Never before has the SEM lab been offered an instrument so flexible and
efficient and at such a reasonable price. The SPI-Module Sputter/Carbon
Coating System provides the same fast deposition of both precious metals
and carbon that earned the SPI Sputter series of coaters their reputation
for reliability and performance going all the way back to 1975. SPI was
one of the very earliest firms to recognize the value of small table top
sputter coaters in the SEM laboratory and we were one of the very
first in the world to offer such coaters to SEM users.
All SPI-MODULE systems are available for purchase with or without a
separate vacuum pump. Important options for some users would include the
Etch Mode and Quartz Crystal Thickness Monitor. Since these options are
not needed by all purchasers, make sure you understand when such options
are and are not useful and whether for you specifically they would be
useful additions or an other wise unnecessary waste of precious
resources.
