Molybdenum Support Rings

The economical solution for ion milling!

While copper rings are easier to produce, molybdenum is far more chemically inert in the wet etching solutions used in the preparation of integrated circuit samples. Each Mo ring is manufactured to exact specifications for this special application. Dimensions are 3 mm OD and 1.5 mm ID. Thickness is 0.03 mm. We have reduced the thickness to the very minimum possible to virtually eliminate "shadowing effects" when doing low angle ion milling, which seems to be becoming more and more frequently the method of choice.

Consider also, the various patterns found for molybdenum slot and aperture grids and also the "half rings" used in conjunction with Tri-Pod™ polishing and ion milling.
