The SPI Slim-Bar® Grids were designed for those who want the very maximum of open area when viewing their important samples. In addition to the bars being thinner than conventional grids, in order to get them that thin, the grid itself is overall thinner in the thickness direction. This is a real attraction for anyone doing stereo electron microscopy.
Remember that with the thinner bars, the grid square size is larger for a given mesh size. Hence, if you want to keep the hole size constant relative to conventional grids, if you were using 200 mesh regular grids presently, then you might want to use 300 mesh Slim-Bar.
We are talking about 5µm instead of the typically 30 µm for "regular" grids.
Be sure also to consider Coated Grids and the Custom Coating Service from SPI Supplies. Remember we can coat virtually any grid you might select, not just the "examples" that are shown in the coated grid section. And upon special order (and a slightly higher premium in price) we can also coat onto just about any grid you might select, the Quantifoil® holey carbon support films.
