Quantifoil® Micromachined Holey Carbon Grids

Low energy electron point source (LEEPS) microscopy

Chinese

In low energy electron point source microscopy, a perforated foil with a regular pattern is required in order to be able to resolve an object which is suspended over a hole. An object can not be seen from the support in the case of conventional hole carbon film. H.-W. Fink and C. Schönenberger (Univ. of Basel) used Quantifoil hole carbon foils for the measurement of electrical current through DNA molecules. For more information: Electrical Conduction Through DNA Molecules, H.-W. Fink and C. Schönenberger, Nature 398, 407-410 (1999).
