- Allows the microscopist to see a complete section without grid bar interruption.
- Smooth edges.
- Excellent dull/shiny side discrimination.
- The thickness of a particular grid pattern depends on the size of the hole, the larger the hole, the thicker the grid, in order to give the
grid better dimensional stability and stiffness. The thickness varies from 25 µm for the smallest hole to 50 µm for the thickest hole.
- Thickness variation on a given grid varies with the thickness. The standard deviation for the thickness and the thinnest grids are given as
with the other grid thicknesses falling in between these two values.
- GA75 : 25 µm ± 3 µm
- GA2000 : 50 µm ± 5 µm
Order numbers include a code letter that indicates metal type:
- C=Copper
- N=Nickel
- G=Gold
- P=Copper/Palladium
- GC=Gold Plated Copper
- GN=Gold Plated Nickel
- Gold plated copper and gold plated nickel grids for inertness of gold, but for a much lower price
Before making your final selection, make sure you have considered the unique SPI "Multi-Slot" Grid
pattern, for those who don't know for sure which size slot would be the most appropriate kinds of samples. And if you are having difficulty making,
or if you just don't have the time to make your own coated (with support films) grids, consider using the world-renown
SPI Supplies custom grid coating service
or trying out the Quantifoil® holey carbon coated grids.
