This is a new design for use by those who have been using traditional slot grids but need additional support, in order to reduce image drift and specimen "sag", that is, the sagging of the sample as it spans the grid "hole". But for precision measurements and the virtual elimination of grid "sag", we would recommend consideration for the SPI Supplies Brand Silicon Nitride Membrane Window grids.
One strong reason why one might express a preference for the Tri-Slot grids is that they are far less costly than the silicon nitride membrane window alternative.
