Specially cut 3.05 mm discs to fit into a standard TEM grid holder

Introduction:

High quality mica is quickly becoming a popular substrate for a growing number of researchers studying molecular species, self-assembling arrays, nano particles, nano tubes and nano fibers of varying chemical compositions, just to name a few examples. Mica is offered by SPI Supplies in a number of standard shapes and thickness, over a range of different qualities, V-1 to V-5. Mica is normally a much lower cost than HOPG but because the preparation of these discs is mainly labor and not materials, in disc form the prices are quite similar. So if your preference is really for HOPG, we suggest consider that option instead of mica.

Preparation of the discs:
We offer the discs in two different qualities of mica, Grade V-1 and V-5. We presently offer the products in packs of 20 and 100 discs, in part because of the high cost of the package itself. We apologize for the apparently high cost of the discs but their manufacture is very labor intensive, but we are constantly working to develop more efficient production methods which could lead to a lowering of the selling prices.
