Diamond Ring Grids
The SPI Supplies Diamond Ring Grids, made of pure synthetic diamond, are
used by demanding researchers worldwide who have heat sensitive samples.
Many do know it, but the thermal conductivity of diamond is four times
higher than it is for copper, meaning that it carries away heat from a
sample during ion milling four times faster than if mounted on copper. Yet
the diamond if highly resistant to ion milling itself.
And when the grid is used as a support grid for analytical TEM studies,
there are very low Bremsstrahlung background radiation levels,
a highly desirable quality, and one that is comparable to that found for
beryllium grids but without the concerns about safety and toxicity.
