Brand Crucibles
Select from crucibles from a variety of different materials
Introduction:
Laboratory crucibles are widely used in laboratories throughout the world in a variety of processes and procedures. At one time, platinum crucibles were the ultimate crucible because of the metal's high temperature resistance and also, inertness. Porcelain, being much cheaper, is not as inert, and as analytical chemical procedures became more and more highly sophisticated, and the detection limits fell further and further, lower cost alternatives, such as porcelain and later graphite, became less and less acceptable.
SPI Supplies now offers alternatives that for many applications are just as technically sound as platinum but for a much lower price. And one does not need to worry, as they do for platinum, as the price for the metal keeps escalating, about theft and the need to lock up such crucibles in a safe for safekeeping, as is the case for platinum.
Available crucibles (listings in black not yet available):
Glassy Carbon
Graphite
Magnesium Oxide
Platinum
PTFE
Porcelain
