SPI-Chem Cardolite® NC-513 Epoxy Plasticizer and Diluent
Clarification of multiple CAS numbers
There are two CAS #'s for Cardolite NC-513, glycidyl ether of 3-alkyl phenol.
This material was originally registered in the USA, Canada, and Europe as
CAS #68413-24-1. However, a later "inventory correction" was mandated by
the US TSCA, and NC-513 is now registered under TSCA using CAS #171263-25-5.
However, the registration in Canada and Europe is still the original one,
under CAS #68413-24-1.
We don't have any simple way of explaining this except to note that when one
really has the need to declare a CAS # for the SPI-Chem™ NC-513 glycidyl
ether of 3-alkyl phenol, we would recommend the following statement: In the
USA, use CAS #171263-25-5, for Canada, Europe and the rest of the world use
CAS #68413-24-1.
We agree that this is very complicated and regulations in different
countries are changing almost daily. Should you, as our reader, be aware
that some other description would be applicable in some other country,
we would appreciate your letting us know.
