Karnovsky's Fixative
This is a very specific solution of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde in a sodium phosphate buffer.
Ready to mix-and-use kit contains:
16% Formaldehyde
2x10ml ampoules
50% Glutaraldehyde
1x10ml ampoules
Sodium Phosphate Buffer, 0.2M
1x50ml vial
It is reported that the mixed fixative may be stored at or below 4°C for up to six months prior to use without compromising retention of ultrastructural detail.
