According to the incubating conditions, sections incubated in SPI-Mark
Cationic Gold will exhibit various degrees of labeling in anionic sites
throughout the tissue. At low pH values specific labeling of cell surface
anionic sites occurs. At such low pH values the lysine takes on a net
positive charge and is attracted to the most negatively charged (i.e. least
positively charged) sites of the tissue. Non specific labeling may be
reduced by inclusion of 1%BSA in the incubating buffer and by prior
blocking with a 1% BSA solution.
