Protect your Mounted Specimens

Another SPI exclusive! Store your mounts in a clean, dust-free, dry environment with SPI-DRY™ combination storage and desiccating dry boxes. High impact polystyrene exterior plastic protects your mounts; while the numbered soft plastic mount plate holds mounts firmly in place. Unlike "hard" insert plates, the SPI soft "elastomer plastic" will last essentially forever.

The boxes were also designed specifically for interlaboratory shipment as well. We have a "bang" test, and one that we advise our customers to try as well. Insert some unused mounts into the holes in the plate, close the box, turn it up-side-down, and then "bang" it on a hard table top. See how hard you have to bang the box to get the mounts to fall out! Some have told us that they are banging so hard, the box would break before the mounts fall out! Seriously, though, we do advise this special "test" before shipping important samples inter-laboratory because a) not all mounts are made to the same specifications as the SPI SEM mounts, and therefore in some instances, if you have non-SPI mounts, there could be a looser fit, and b) sometimes the holes are stretched a bit more than the specified diameter, again because of the use of out-of-specification pins or mounts.

Mount holding plates feature center cavities designed to hold SPI Desiccant Capsules (sold separately). For long term desiccating, simply insert desiccant capsules and seal box with ordinary tape.

9.5mm round mounts and 4 SPI Desiccant Capsules.
